We specialize in stone foundation repairs, restoration and waterproofing. Stone foundations built in the Burlington area with stone from 1600's to early 1900's used lime mortar stone and brick to construct the foundation.
Lime mortar is a mixture of processed limestone and sand. Completely free of Portland cement. Over time ground water washes out the lime of the mortar and stone foundation mortar joints and coatings become sandy. Sandy foundation mortar joints causes leaks, voids, basement flooding , infiltration and structural concerns.
Exterior stone foundation cracks are the result of movement in the stone foundation base.
By carefully repairing all masonry with foundation re-pointing, stone setting and brick repairs. Basements can be professionally sealed and waterproofed. We only use professional restoration products for lasting restorations. Using the wrong mortar can actually damage the foundation, trap moisture in walls and cause mold issues.
